Day 5 - Cizur Minor to Puente de la Reina

I forgot mention yesterday that there was a festival on in Cizur Minor so there was a great atmosphere in the town when we got back from Pamplona!

We left the hostel this morning at 6.30 to begin the trek of Alto de Perdon (the Peak of Forgiveness). Passing through Cizur everything was still in full swing from the night before. The bars were still open, music playing as loud as ever and plenty of people singing.. I was tempted to go in and join them with my rendition of the Lakes of Pontchartrain but I didn't want the lads waiting too long for me!

We got to Alto de Perdon just after sunrise. The town can be found 790m up the ascent of the mountain. The wind was roaring as we made our way through the town, passing by a beautiful monument which marked the spot where we were 700km from Camino Del Santiago.

The next stop on the route was Uterga where we had our breakie and from there we took a slight detour to see the Octagonal Knights Templar Church. It was well worth it! Built in 1170 the church was amazing.. From there we made our way to Puente la Reina where we are spending tonight! We did 26km today which was very good considering the tough terrain we were walking in..

Listening to the Kerry and Dublin match at the minute with a few Irish but I'll have more news later so will add it in..

Thanks for your support!
