Day 11 - Belorado to Ages

Hi everyone,

We were up this morning at 5am our time (4am for you all) and left the hostel around 6am. It was dark when we were leaving with a heavy mist and a bit of rain, but after a few hours it cleared up. We all got soaked anyway between the rain and sweat!

Passing through Tosantos and Villambistia everyone was still tucked up in bed. We stopped for breakfast around 8am just for a quick roll and coffee. Villafranca Montes de Oca was next and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful town! We saw a minibus collecting peoples bag and bringing them over the mountain for them in the town. But we stayed true to El Perefrino and didn't avail of the service.

The three climbs Mojapan, Pedraja and Carnero were extremely tough with very steep downhills. Carnero was at 1150m and from there the downhill climb brought us into San Juan de Ortega which has a population of 20!! Got a well deserved can of coke and changed the socks.. Was heaven felt like I got new feet!

After our short break we decided to move closer to Burgos for tomorrow so continued downhill to Ages where we are staying for the night. Have to look for an Irish pub tomorrow in Burgos for the game. Fancy Mayo and Clare winning over the next two weekends! Decent odds i'd say..

Overall today we covered 31km delighted to have covered so much ground. Heading down with the two lads for a cold beer.

I'll chat to you all soon!

Ger
