Day 3 - Roncevalles to Larrasona

Hi everyone greetings from Larrasona!

This morning we all left Roncevalles at 6.45 and by 12 we were in Zubiri where we stopped for an hour for a bit of lunch. Its was nice and early when we landed in Larrasona around 2.30..

Coming down the hills is a killer and my feet are pretty sore. I found a river in Larrasona which was freezing and sat with my feet in it for a bit also washed the clothes in it!

We are just after having the pilgrim meal there 3 courses for 12e and complimentary wine.. Up early so won't be taking full advantage of the wine! Was eating with Polish, Slovakians, Australians, Americans, French, Germans and a few Irish from Kilkenny, Spiddal and Wexford! All gas people!!

Weather is extremely hot out here so starting to walk in the dark! Hoping to hit Pamplona by 2 tomorrow so will update you all then!

Please push the sponsorship as it will make a huge difference!!

Thanks alot,

Ger

Day 2 - St Jean to Roncevalles

Everyone where we were staying was up early and on the road. We left the hostel around 7.15. If all the hostels are as good as the one we stayed in, we will be delighted! 20e for a bed, breakfast and pilgrim meal..

We were in Orisson by 9 and Col by midday.. The first few days are said to be the toughest and I really hope so with my legs pretty sore and tired after the first day of walking. We met Bob from Oregon when we were leaving St Jean and he will be walking with us for the remainder of the Camino.

I met a lot of people today, they all had their own reasons for being on the trip. One of which was a couple from Celebridge. Their 21 year old son died of a sudden death and they decided to do the walk in memory of him. Only a day into it now and already the stories and people I have met are amazing.

By starting where we did this morning the whole Camino will actually be 825km as opposed to 790km and we covered 32km of it today.

Awesome day and relieved to have covered such ground!!

Talk soon,
Ger

Day 1 - Landing in St Jean

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days they will now be more frequent! There hasn't been many internet cafes on the route as I'm sure you can imagine so dad is going to text me a brief outline of what ground he covered every day and where he is.. I'll let you all know then! Ronan

Landed in St Jean is a beautiful hostel.. I met a lot of people over dinner and a few of us have decided that we are going to stick with eachother for a while anyway! (We'll see if they can handle my pace..) One of them is a Castlebar man who is now living in Vancouver (he's a gas man!) and the other is Tommy O' Gorman from RTE Belfast. The weather is very hot here today so the plan is to get up early and get the heavy walking done before lunch time!

We had mass before the pilgrim feast and its now around 9 with the majority of people in bed. I'm going to head off now so will talk to you all tomorrow.
